Actually it was a short business call about the company office remodel. He took the call as he picked me up from the airport. There was nothing said on that call to give me pause, yet I felt something was off. To this date I have no idea why. Maybe he made too much of an effort to explain the purpose of the call after the fact — yet I remember feeling deep in my gut something was wrong before than. How did my gut know? I have no idea but it was right!
