Dear Lana,

It distresses me that this article frightened you. I’m so sorry to hear that. No, it wasn’t intended to be a cautionary tale, but simply to provide more information.

What is the underlying cause of your sensitivities? They all could be explained by PSTD. Yes they could also be connected to autism too or an anxiety disorder. Many psychological conditions share similar symptoms. It takes a trained clinician to distinguish between manía, hyperactivity, and anxiety, for example. All three present as excessively energetic.

I recommend you see someone well trained in the diagnosis of late-diagnosed female autism. There aren’t many clinicians with this expertise. Unfortunately, there is plenty of misinformation about autism among too many therapists. This individual should be able to help you sort this out.

And if you find yourself a member of this club, we are a lovely bunch of women. I’m being serious here. Wonderful women. There’s no need to be afraid. We understand our deficits and strengths. Between you and me, I wouldn’t want be any other way. This is who I am. Yes I have issues with sounds and sensitivities. In fact my list for this article was over twenty but I cut it because it would have bored the reader. But my strengths? They are amazing. :)

Thanks so much for sharing this with me. Let me know how it goes.
