Realizing we are collectively grieving was a big a-ha for me as well. I wrote another piece and then sent it over to a friend for editing (a shout out to Marilyn Regan). She read it through and pointed out I was mixing two themes in the piece and that one of them was grief. That sat me back on my heels. I tore the story apart and rewrote it again; this time sans grief.
The universe wasn’t done. I continued to hear this same resonating theme that we are all grieving the world we lost. Then I knew I had to write this piece from my experience with grief five years ago and more recently in light of my son’s battle with cancer.
Thank you so much for sharing how it resonated with you.
